Digital X-Rays

July 06, 2009 @ 10:38 PM — by Millie Tannen D.D.S.

Our transition to digital x-rays has gone fantastically!   Incorporating DEXIS digital x-rays into our office has been a major step in our change from paper charts to electronic records.   For years, I would hear at dental meetings that digital x-rays were less diagnostic and more difficult to read.  Fortunately, this hasn't been true at all, and our whole team is thrilled with the benefits.  Not only are the images sharp and detailed, but our patients are exposed to less radiation when taking them.  Since the x-rays appear on the computer monitor almost instantaneously, I can view them immediately, without our patients having to wait for them to be processed.  We can enlarge the images, so our patients can see them and can understand the details of their dental health more easily.  Digital x-rays are also "greener," since we don't have to dispose of the lead, silver, and other substances which are environmentally hazardous.  This has been a wonderful improvement for our patients as well as our office team!
