January, 2010, Newsletter

December 29, 2009 @ 11:12 PM — by Millie Tannen D.D.S.

Dear Friends,

As 2010 begins, we are delighted to say “Thank you!” for allowing us to provide your dental care.  We are honored by the confidence you have placed in us and look forward to helping you maintain or achieve beautiful, healthy smiles this year!

2009 was an important year for our office, as we made the change from paper charts to electronic records and digital x-rays.  How does this benefit you?  A few of the advantages are lower radiation exposure, x-rays which are easier to read, faster access to your records, and better communication with your other health professionals and insurance companies.

In early December, we added a soft-tissue laser to our office.  While they can be used in many dental procedures, lasers are becoming a vital part of treating periodontal (gum) disease, since the laser energy kills bacteria and stimulates the growth of healthy tissue.  We now know that periodontal disease does not only infect your mouth; it also causes inflammation which has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, and other medical problems.  So, in 2010, I’ll be working more directly with our hygienists, Susan and Chris, as we work to improve your overall health, not just the health of your teeth!

Our mailed, paper newsletter, Cheshire Chat, will be back this year, which is somewhat ironic, since we’ve reduced our use of paper in the office itself.  However, the paper newsletters are easily accessible for all of our patients and are more likely to be read than the electronic ones, so we hope you’ll look forward to seeing them!  If there are any topics you’d like to see included, please let us know.

We wish all of you a very happy and healthy holiday season!  Again, thank you so much for making us your dental home!

Best regards and wishes for 2010,
                        Millie Tannen, DDS, MAGD,
